Time to build the future
Ukraine is on the verge of a large-scale transformation. Today it is especially important to think about what the country’s economy will be like in the coming years. How to develop industry not according to the models of the past, but according to the standards of the future? The answer is obvious – the transition to Industry 5.0.
Where are we now? Industry 3.0
Most Ukrainian enterprises still operate within the framework of Industry 3.0 – automation, electronics, local IT solutions. At best, there are isolated attempts to integrate elements of Industry 4.0. However, this is no longer enough.
Industry 5.0 is a new paradigm based on the partnership between humans and machines, deep personalization, environmental friendliness, and intellectualization of processes.
Economic model and markets: what is changing
The transition to Industry 5.0 implies a new economic model for Ukraine. It is focused not on raw material exports or extensive growth, but on intelligence, flexibility, and product value for the end consumer.
Key features of the new model:
- High added value – instead of exporting raw materials and semi-finished products.
- Flexibility and personalization – instead of mass production.
- Intelligent products and services created at the intersection of technology and human experience.
Target markets:
- The EU, the USA, Japan, and South Korea have a stable demand for high-tech industrial products: casting parts, assemblies, composites, and machine systems.
- The domestic market also has great potential. Modern industrialization must begin with supporting national manufacturers.
What do our customers say?
The company “Ukrfavorit”, which has been working in the field of supplying technologies and materials for foundry enterprises for over 20 years, recently conducted a survey among its clients – industry representatives from all regions of Ukraine.
The results showed that the key issues that concern businesses are:
- Entering new markets
- Raw material shortage
- Lack of qualified personnel
- Power supply problems
These challenges require a systemic solution, and it is Industry 5.0 that provides the tools to overcome them.
How Industry 5.0 can help:
- New markets – thanks to digitalization, customization, and technological compliance with EU and US standards.
- Raw materials – transition to cyclical production models, recycling, environmentally friendly alternatives.
- Human resources – investing in new engineering education, automation of routine functions, retraining of personnel.
- Energy – energy-efficient technologies, use of renewable energy sources, smart consumption management.
The foundry industry as the core of the new economy
Foundries have the potential to become the industrial foundation of Ukraine’s future economy. Their role is strategic in the following areas:
- Mechanical engineering (including electric vehicles)
- Energy (wind and hydropower)
- Agricultural machinery
- Medical technologies
This is a chance to move from the old post-Soviet model to a modern, flexible, technological economy focused on global standards.
How to move to Industry 5.0?
1. Build a foundation with 4.0
Smart factory, IoT, artificial intelligence, robotics, big data analytics – without this there will be no transition to a new level.
2. People are at the center
It is necessary to create conditions for the development of engineering culture, train a new generation of employees, and invest in training and adaptation of personnel.
3. Green economy
Modernization should be ecological: minimal carbon footprint, reuse of resources, energy efficiency.
4. R&D and collaboration
New formats of interaction between business, science and the state are needed: industrial accelerators, technology parks, joint laboratories.
