No-bake furan process – a two-component system where resins containing furfuryl alcohol are used as binders. The mixtures cure without heating under the influence of acid curing solutions.

BINDING PERMASET 839
A binder based on furfural alcohol containing modifiers that improve the polymerization and binding of sand particles.

APPLICATION:
For all types of casting. For the manufacture of molds and cores in conjunction with Permacat catalysts. The amount of Permaset 839 binder added is typical for furan systems and, depending on the individual characteristics of the foundry, ranges from 0.7-1.2% by weight of sand.
Permaset 839 allows for the use of up to 95% mechanical regenerate when the regeneration system is operating successfully. Permaset 839 is particularly suitable for steel castings, but can also be used for iron castings.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Free flowing dark transparent liquid
Nitrogen content is less than 0.5%.
The mass fraction of free phenol is less than 1%.
The mass fraction of free formaldehyde is less than 0.5%.
Viscosity at 20°C (ford cup 4) – approx. 14 sec
Density at 20°C – about 1.15 g/cm

Technological features
Good reactivity. Provides high strength characteristics. Allows the use of up to 90% mechanical regenerate.

WARNINGS ABOUT USE:

Permaset 839 Binder contains components that can be hazardous if used improperly. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, and wear protective clothing. Read the appropriate safety data sheet to ensure that the procedures for handling the material are known and understood.

WARNING. Do not mix Permaset 839 directly with acids such as PERMACAT catalysts. These materials should only be mixed together with sand.

STORAGE:
PERMASET 839 binder should be stored at a temperature of +5…+25°C, protected from direct sunlight. Storage at higher or lower temperatures is acceptable, but not recommended. Storage at elevated temperatures significantly reduces the shelf life.
