Iron casting technology in KhTS

Iron casting technology in KhTS, , фото 1

Cast iron is one of the most common metals, widely used in mechanical engineering and other industries. High requirements are placed on the quality of castings, so the technologies for creating cast parts are constantly being improved. The most widespread today is cast iron casting in the HTS. This technology allows you to create high-quality castings, while production costs are equivalent to simpler methods.

Features and advantages of the method The technology of casting cast iron involves the manufacture of casting rods and molds from friable self-hardening mixtures. Most often, they contain substances based on sand, special resins and a hardener. Due to the fact that clay-sand molds are used for casting, the environmental safety of production is significantly increased, and working conditions are improved.

Manufacturing equipment from HTS has the following advantages:

  • the same components are used when creating casting molds and cores;
  • Only one unit is used for molding suspension and transferring it to molds – a mixer
  • the amount of burning is reduced, increasing the accuracy of the forms;
  • using this method significantly reduces the number of defects, such as sinks, cavities and others associated with the destruction of the tooling;

It should also be noted that the number of finishing operations and metal consumption are reduced due to more accurate casting dimensions.

Features of forming when casting cast iron HTS

Unlike standard sand-clay mixtures, working with cold-hardening mixtures requires high speed. This is due to the fact that they contain liquid resins that harden very quickly when catalysts are added. Unlike pouring into the ground, when the mixture is rammed, the suspension with CTS is simply poured into a mold, where it hardens for twenty minutes at room temperature.

Compared to other technologies of casting ferrous metal into molds, the use of these mixtures significantly improves the surface quality of castings. MDF, metal and other durable materials are used for the manufacture of tooling. An important advantage of the technology is the reduction in the size of the molds, due to which the cost of castings reaches the same value as when casting in sand, despite the higher prices per kilogram of ferrous metal.

Advantages of casting in cold-hardening mixtures

The use of HTS allows to significantly simplify the technological process. At the same time, there are no serious difficulties in creating products with complex geometry and high surface cleanliness. The quality of the resulting products allows to minimize the number of machining operations, due to this, the cost of this technology corresponds to pouring into the ground.
